Anthro Northwest was founded with the goal of creating a convention to promote and develop the best attributes of the Anthropomorphic Arts Community through a yearly convention to be held in Downtown Seattle. We place special emphasis on education, hospitality and building community. Anthro Northwest is the first convention of its kind to offer a fully family friendly experience.

Anthro Northwest 2017 will be held in the Luxurious Renaissance Seattle Hotel. It features several floors of convention space spanning over 20,000 square feet. There is a dedicated dealers floor on the lower level, a large lobby and lounge space on level 1, and a restaurant and grand ballroom on level 2. Floor 3 features meeting rooms, art jam space and a performer lounge.

The anthropomorphic art community has so much to offer. Whether it is the fans, content creators, community or amazing art, there really is nothing like it anywhere else. The convention is here to support and develop the whole anthropomorphic ecosystem. From paintings to performance, music, literature, video and everything in between, anthropomorphic art is everywhere. At Anthro Northwest people of incredible diversity and background all come together and share a very special weekend together.

The Anthro Northwest convention is put on by a tireless group of volunteers, panelists and vendors. They all work hard to create the convention experience. Anthro Northwest is an independent anthropomorphic art organization built from the ground up. We strive to work in cooperation and harmony with the many similar conventions and events in the community.

It is our hope that at Anthro Northwest, that there will be a little bit of you in the convention, and a little bit of the convention inside of each one of you.

Anthro Northwest Charities was founded to promote the attributes of creativity, charity and hospitality within the anthropomorphic art community. This is primarily accomplished at an annual convention through art, education and building community.

Anthropomorphic Art is art involving "humanized" animals. Those who create the art are often animators, cartoonists, puppeteers, artists, illustrators, writers, videographers, recording artists, musicians, sports mascots and of course character performers. There exists a community surrounding anthropomorphic arts, which is different from any other fandom, in that the relationships often extend into everyday life. In the anthropomorphic arts community the activities and relationships do not stop after a convention, but rather tend to be integrated into who people are and how they express themselves.

The fans and performers in the Anthropomorphic Arts community often have very close relationships, and it is common to see the fans become content creators or vice versa. Anthropomorphic art is not centered around a produced brand or identity, but rather is forged from the creative effusions of the community as a whole. In the last two decades the anthropomorphic arts community been recognized as a distinct fan-base. The creators and fans are found in all corners of the world, and come from all races and ages and creeds. They are bound together across the most daunting barriers by our interest in these anthropomorphic animals who, by simple reflection, often give us a better window into ourselves.

A large number of anthropomorphics fans are employed in scientific or technical fields. A significant percentage have college diplomas and many of those hold advanced degrees. This, perhaps, is what leads many casual observers to raise an eyebrow. "Why would someone like this be into cartoon animals? Isn't that unusual?" If we look at the world around us, we will see that anthropomorphized animals are an integral part of our culture. We use them to represent our political parties. We talk to our dogs (and some even imagine they talk back, though in their own way). We put a tiger in our tank. We cheer for mascots, anthropomorphic animals dressed in team uniforms at our favorite sporting events.

Today, the anthropomorphic arts community is advanced and enjoyed by tens of thousands worldwide. From professional content creators, to novices and fans, the community is large, diverse and growing rapidly. If you as an adult still occasionally like to flip to the old cartoons, or have a stuffed animal sitting on the dashboard of your car, or buy cereal because it has a cool tiger on the box, you may well enjoy what the community has to offer.

In the anthropomorphic art community it is common for people to use character personas or avatars to represent themselves. Often the persona is a reflection of character traits which a person is developing or growing into. Personas and avatars can be zoomorphic in nature, often combining human and animal qualities. While generalizations can not necessarily be drawn from which species is chosen, often the author of a persona will identify with prominent behavior patterns found in their character.

As a matter of etiquette, if a performer is in costume, they should only be called by their character's name.

Anthro Northwest Charities is a 501(c)3 organization founded primarily to promote the Anthropomorphic arts.

Anthro Northwest maintains a board of no less than 3 directors. The board members of anthro northwest approve contracts, handle disciplinary actions and review appeal requests. The board members may remove or elect any officer at their discretion. The board may be reached at the address above.

Much of the day to day operation, as well as the long term vision of Anthro Northwest is directed by the president of Anthro Northwest. The general implementation of the convention is sculpted around the interests and dreams of the volunteers.

100% of all donations to Anthro Northwest are given entirely to other 501(c)3 based organizations, or are used to supply scholarships to convention guests, panelists and vendors. Officers and directors of Anthro Northwest Charities are not eligible for scholarships nor may they receive monetary compensation by Anthro Northwest Charities.

Anthro Northwest would not exist without the many volunteers that help bring the dream to life.

Board Position #1
The first board position is occupied by Gabriel. He has worked in small business and startups for 23 years. His first company was game galaxy pinball and video game repair started in 1994. Most recently he has worked as an electrical engineering consultant, but now serves as a volunteer for Anthro Northwest full time.

Board Position #2
The second board position is occupied by Ali who recently celebrated her 67'th birthday. She spent much of her youth living off the land in the middle of the Salmon River in Idaho. She ran a successful bed and breakfast and now works in elder care. Participating in ANW as a board member has been her first exposure to the fandom. She has been dazzled by the beauty of creativity found in the fandom and is excited to learn how to make her costume dream a reality.

Board Position #3
The third board position is occupied by by Dusk, a social worker who cares for homeless, runaway, and foster youth. She has experienced some of the best and worst situations found in the world. Participating as an Anthro Northwest board member has been her first exposure to the fandom. She is quite impressed with how warm and supportive the community can be for youth and adults of such incredible diversity. She is eager to explore and discover the creativity and community within the fandom.
