Summit Assistance Dogs Selected as a Featured Charity for Anthro Northwest 2019
Summit Assistance Dogs has been selected as a featured charity for Anthro Northwest 2018.
Summit is a non-profit organization that provides highly skilled mobility-assistance dogs to people living with disabilities. The organization adopts and trains dogs from animal shelters, professional breeders, and people who need to re-home their pets to assist people with mobility challenges in the activities of daily life. When one of their service dogs is matched with a person in need, they also perform custom training with each team to ensure the best fit for the needs of both partners.
Summit also pioneers a rehabilitation program at the Monroe Correctional Complex, where select inmates learn to handle basic training for older puppies or newly admitted shelter dogs. This allows the inmates to practice job skills, social and communication skills, responsibility, empathy, and compassion. As a result, both the dog and the trainer learn and grow together.
Summit will have an information booth available at Anthro Northwest. We encourage you to visit their website to learn more, and to make a contribution to help create a life-changing partnership for a person in need.
