Attending Minors Policy
General Information
Anthro Northwest is an all-ages environment and has a maximum content rating of PG. As such, minors are welcome to attend any and all scheduled events with the exception of parents only discussions and certain humanities courses where parental guidance is required.
Our dress code and terms of service is very strict and we do our best to enforce it. Although great efforts are made to maintain a comfortable, safe, and appropriate all-ages environment, Anthro Northwest cannot control the actions of everyone in the convention space. Parents and guardians should take the same precautions they would at similar events such as amusement parks or concerts. Please report any safety issues or concerns immediately to the nearest safety team member or to the F.L.A.R.E. office.
Parents and guardians are notified that some humanities and psychology panels may contain responsible adult discussions about sexuality, abuse or other sensitive topics. Parental guidance is recommended and sometimes required for those panels.
Parental Consent
All minors must submit a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian to attend. If a parent or legal guardian is not present to sign the consent form in person, the consent form must be notarized.
Minors Age 16–17
Anyone under the age of 18 may attend with their parents or a designated responsible adult. Unless a release is on file, minors must be escorted by their parents or a responsible adult at all times.
If you will be at least 16 years old on the first day of the Anthro Northwest convention, you may attend unaccompanied provided that your parent or guardian signs the release section of your consent form. If your parents are not with you during check-in, you must have the consent form notarized. Minors attending without their parents are completely responsible for their own behavior and are expected to act as responsible adults. Please note that at least one person in your room must be 18 to stay at the Hyatt Regency Seattle.
Minors Age 0–15
Minors age 15 and under must be escorted by a parent or responsible adult at all times. A temporary guardian or responsible adult listed on the minor's consent form may supervise them. Anthro Northwest policy prohibits minors age 12 and under from displaying their real name on their badge. Minors under the age of 16 are not eligible to attend unsupervised.
Attendees under age 16 qualify for free or discounted memberships. However, we ask their parents to support Anthro Northwest by purchasing a membership. If you have a difficult financial situation and cannot afford a membership, please contact Anthro Northwest for scholarship opportunities.
